Through dialogue with moderators, three faculty from the arts and humanities describe how their methods, and practices respond to today’s wicked problems. Arts and humanities methods and practices foreground deep observation, listening, empathy, diverse viewpoints, and imaginative possibilities. Specifically, panelists will discuss how they operationalize artistic, historical, and humanistic approaches to (a) temporal framings of wicked problems (b) what counts as data, and (c) the dissemination of knowledge in and beyond the classroom. The session will conclude by brainstorming with the audience how to meaningfully involve the arts and humanities in cross-disciplinary research projects.
