HUMAN RIGHTS PASTS AND FUTURES

This first and inaugural Society of Fellows program highlighted multi-disciplinary approaches to and perspectives on the international human rights movement, the relationship between human rights law and culture, and creative forms of human rights representation and resistance. Fellows’ projects mobilized arts and humanities perspectives to address complex global challenges. Learn more



OPENING RECEPTION
Monday, November 15 from 4-5 p.m. | Sullivant Hall Rotunda

Our opening reception was an opportunity to celebrate a range of cross-disciplinary research and creative projects demonstrating the power of the arts and humanities to respond to critical societal challenges. The program included remarks by GAHDT leadership, live music and dance performances and a two-story visual installation highlighting the innovative and diverse faculty and student research we’ve supported.

    Thaliyah Cools Lartique (Dance) Undergraduate Student and GAHDT Undergraduate Research Fellow
    This dance performance explores how history and mobility have shaped cultural expressions like West Indian/Caribbean dance.

    Graduate Student Jacob Kopcienski (Music), Berenice Llorens (Electronic Multidisciplinary Artist), Fede Cámara Halac (Sonic Arts)
    Networked performance trio whose work leverages pandemic constraints on performance to explore the otherwise impossible sounds, textures and listening practices that emerge from spaces of digital collaboration.
