Hesford Named Ohio Eminent Scholar

Wendy S. Hesford

Professor Wendy S. Hesford, Department of English, and Faculty Director for the Global Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme has been named Ohio Eminent Scholar in Rhetoric, Composition, and Literacy. Hesford has published six books, including the award-winning Spectacular Rhetorics: Human Rights Visions, Recognitions, and Feminisms. Her third monograph Violent Exceptions: Children’s Human Rights and Humanitarian Rhetoric is forthcoming. Her research, teaching, and community engagement efforts focus on human rights literacy, social justice, and transnational understandings of our historical place in the world. She has held visiting scholar appointments at Columbia University’s Center for the Study of Human Rights, Emory University School of Law, and Yale University’s Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance, and Abolition.
