Livable Futures: Call for Proposals, 2019-2020

Livable Futures

Call for Proposals 2019-2020

Livable Futures is a community of practice -- a grassroots network of artists, scholars and activist seeking to share resources and foster creative solutions to survival under planetary conditions of unpredictability and crisis. Livable Futures projects are collaborative; they integrate artistic, scientific and humanistic methods and practices; and they are inclusive and socially responsive. Livable Futures is a Global Arts + Humanities Discovery Theme funded project.

Livable Futures is accepting applications for the 2019-2020 academic year for small grants to catalyze projects and allow for experimentation in teaching, research, and activism.

We prioritize collaborative projects in the following categories:

Workshops and Pop-Up Collaborations: Short term, focused work and play by small organized teams around targeted questions and/or development of new research and/or prototypes.

Reading Rooms, Screenings, Creative Facilitation: interdisciplinary group facilitation catalyzed by relevant stimuli, movement, viewings, shared readings, creative means for making connections, synthesis and multiple modes for sharing. For example, in our Livable Futures Reading Rooms participants review a shared reading and artistic project then come together for an interdisciplinary intensive including opening embodied practice, emergent discussion, and reflection/synthesis.

Arts Creation, Performance, Exhibition, and Other Projects: Support faculty, graduate and undergraduate students to innovate creative interventions relevant to the mission of LF.

Teaching Clusters: Allowing for responsive, rapid and strategic integration in the curriculum, clusters are formed within existing courses that come together during the semester around a shared topic and/or guest residency and all students engage in applied projects.

How to Apply:

Submit a short abstract and budget rationale as a PDF. For ideas, check out our blog or contact us, we would love to talk with you. Maximum funding will be $1500 but we will try to fund as many people as possible, therefore smaller requests are encouraged. Please apply by October 7. If there are remaining funds after that deadline, they will be disbursed on a rolling basis. Proposals will be reviewed and awarded by the LF advisory committee.

Deadline: October 7, 2019 to Puja Batra Wells (GAHDT Program Manager) via email: batra-wells dot 1 at osu dot edu
